Sept. 8th marked the 40th anniversary of the worldwide observance of
International Literacy Day. To emphasize the importance of literacy in
general and reading about the environment, cultural and historic significance in
our local geographic area, Florida State Parks will waive the admission fee
during the month of September for all visitors who donate a new or used book,
show a valid library card or show a book checked out from a library.
Werner-Boyce Salt Springs Sate Park's citizens support group (Salt Springs
Alliance) added their own contribution to this worthy cause by donating $250 to
Pasco libraries for environmental book purchases on Thursday, September 13th.
