Membership Breakfast and Walk-Around - February 28, 2009

The second annual Membership Campfire Breakfast and General Meeting was held on Saturday, March 28th. Unfortunately, the recent ban on open fires prevented a campfire but everything else went as planned.

A beautifully peaceful morning at Werner-Boyce Salt Springs State Park.

Ken Tracey led the 8 am "Walk About". Baby eagles were the highlight of the day.

Even though the fire was fake, everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by SSA members and friends.

SSA member Burt Golub (far left) explained a little about the history of the park. Did you know that turpentine was extracted from the park pine trees in the late 1800's?

Toby Brewer, Park Manager, related current and future plans for the park. Parking, restrooms and a canoe/kayak launch are all in the near future.

SSA president Linda Tracey discussed upcoming and future events planned by the citizens support organization.
